Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig Sept. 21, 1983) is a well-known American actress. Particularly, she appeared as Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV show as well as Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Originally from Worthington Ohio she left high school and moved in Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. In the midst of financial hardship, she got her first acting gig as the title character in the web-based video series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. The actress was able to secure an Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 for her performance as 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television film Murder set in Greenwich. In 2004, Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost on which she was the main character for the initial two seasons. Grace quit the show in the year 2005, to take on a more significant role in film, appearing alongside Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. She starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 as well as Taken (2008) opposite Liam Neeson. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) were her reprises of these roles. Gyllenhaal received critical acclaim for her performances as the lead in the erotic romantic comedy drama Secretary (2002) as well as the drama Sherrybaby (2006) both of which brought her the Golden Globe Award nomination. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008 after several highly successful films including World Trade Center (2006) which brought her greater recognition, was a huge success for Gyllenhaal. The year 2009 was the time she was recognized for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her portrayal of a single mother in Crazy Heart. In the following years, she appeared in dramas and comedies such as Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012 In addition to her role as a Secret Service agent, she also appeared as a character in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). The most recent roles include the protagonist in The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal began her career as screenwriter, director and writer in the year 2021, when she directed and wrote her psychological horror film The Lost Daughter. The film received the award for Best Screenplay in The Venice International Film Festival, and it was nominated by the Academy Award.
