Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born artist and songwriter who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's popular songs about his home state inspired many visitors to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said the following: John Denver was by far one of the most popular performers who embodies Colorado. In 2011 Denver was named the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. Denver is today the face of Colorado on the world stage. Certainly in my travels you meet someone from the other part of the globe, one of New Zealand and you say 'I'm of Colorado and the first word that comes that comes out of their mouths is"Oh John Denver! Brown explained. Take Me Home Country Roads written by co-writer Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff had written the song inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered the song's early versions and was aware that it was going to be a top 10 hit. The song was performed at Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer recorded it just days later.
